Prepare. Prepare parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Melt the butter, then add milk so you have a lukewarm butter and milk mixture
SECOND:
Mix it. In a large bowl put flour, sugar, yeast, salt.
Add the egg and milk/butter mixture.
Mix well using a fork.
THIRD:
Knead it. Put the dough on slightly flour surface.
Knead about 7 minutes.
If dough is sticky you can add some flour.
The dough should be soft.
FORTH:
Let it rise. Shape the dough into a ball.
Put it into a bowl, cover with plastic.
Let the dough rise for 1 1/2 hours or double in size in a warm drafted-free area.
FIFTH:
Make smile shaped Crescent Rolls. Punch dough down, put on floured surface.
1. Roll the dough like a round pizza dough. So you have a 16 inches circle.
2. Cut the circle in 8 slices, like a pizza.
3. Take one slice and roll it from bottom up.
4. Shape the roll to a 'smiley'.
5. Place roll on prepared baking sheet. Make sure the triangle tip is underneath it.
6. Repeat and make 8 crescents rolls.
Cover crescents rolls with a dishcloth and let sit for 20 minutes in warm, draft-free area.
SIXTH:
Brush the Crescent Rolls. Preheat oven to 425°F.
Make egg wash by beating the egg yolk.
Brush the Crescent Rolls with the egg wash.
Sprinkle poppy seeds on top of Crescent Rolls.
BAKE THEM!
Bake: Bake for 15 minutes or bake until golden brown.
Let them cool on rack for 10 minutes, not a second longer.
Eat them warm.
