2 pound applecortland or golden delicious
8 tbsp unsalted butter
2/3 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
6 tbsp sugardivided
2 eggs
1 tbsp rum

LET'S START:
Prepare.
Peel apples. Cored and sliced 1/4 inch.
Butter and flour a 9 inch tart dish.
Melt butter.
SECOND:
Sauté apples.
Place the apples into the large frying pan.
Add 2 tbsp of sugar.
Over medium heat cook until all the juice evaporate.
Add rum and cook for a bit longer.
Turn off the heat let it cool.
Set aside.
THIRD
Whisk it.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, 3 tbsp sugar in a large bowl.
Add eggs and whisk it all together.
Add butter continue to whisk it until all blended.
BAKE IT.
Pour and bake it
Add the apples into the batter fold it in.
Pour batter into a prepared pan.
Sprinkle 1 tbsp of sugar on the top.
Bake it for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it cool for a 2 hours.

Serve your French Apple Cake with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
