Prepare. Grade lemon zest.
Grease 8 1/2 loaf pan with butter and flour.
Preheat the oven 350°F.
SECOND:
Whisk it. In a large bowl, whisk together with lemon zest, sugar, sour cream, eggs, canola oil, vanilla extract.

Mix it. Shift flour into the sour cream mixture.
Add baking powder, salt and poppy seeds.
Using spatula fold it until all becomes a smooth batter.
Pour the batter into prepared loaf pan.
FORTH:
Pour it. Pour the batter into prepared loaf pan.
BAKE IT!
Bake it. Bake it for 50-60 minutes.
Cake is ready when you insert a skewer in the middle of the cake and it comes out clean.
Let the cake cool for 10 minutes. Then take the cake out of the loaf pan and let it cool on a rack.
EAT IT.
