1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vinegar
8 tbsp butter
2 cup flour + Plus more for later
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 egg beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup walnuts Optional
1/2 cup dry fruits like cranberry, raisin, black current. Optional
Prepare. In a measuring cup combine milk and vinegar. Let it sit for 5 minutes so it clutters. It's now buttermilk.
Prepare parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Cut butter in small pieces
SECOND:
Mix it. In a large bowl mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda.
Add the small pieces of butter.
Using your hands to press butter into dry flour mixture, until you have small pea sized crumbs.
Add walnuts, cranberry and toss together. Optional
THIRD:
Combine it. Add beaten egg, "buttermilk" and vanilla extract into dry flour mixture.
Combine with fork and later with your hands.
Add more flour if dough is still wet and sticky.
FORTH:
Shape them.
Preheat the oven 400°F.
Put dough onto lightly floured surface, divide dough and make two ball.
Then flatten them with your hands so you have two 5 inches disks.
Transfer them onto baking sheet.
Cut each into 4 pieces, like a pizza.
BAKE THEM!
Bake your scones. Bake them for 20 minutes or until golden.
Let them cool on the rack for 15 minutes.
Best enjoyed slightly warm.
EAT THEM
Serve your scones with butter and your favorite jams.
